Okay...on to this great book : ) Chapter 3 was amazing to read! There are soooo many great stories I wish I could type them all but you gotta get this book!
Mark told a story of when he was 19 years old and vacationing with his family. He woke up early to go on a prayer walk in a large cow pasture. He had been asking God, "What do You want me to do with my life?" He knew without a doubt that God was calling him into full-time ministry. It was several years before he knew the when, where and how that would take place.
Mark asks the question, "Have you ever wondered why so many people built altars in the old testament? We have a natural tendency to remember what we should forget and forget what we should remember." Mark reminds us that we need altars in our lives. "I honestly wonder if our lives seem more routine than they really are simply because we don't have any altars dotting the landscape. I wonder if many of us feel spiritually lost because we don't have milestones that help us find our way back to God. We need altars that renew our faith by reminding us of the faithfulness of God. And every once in a while we need to go back to those sacred places to repent of our sin, renew our covenant with God, and celebrate what God has done."
I will tell you...I have hit some bumps in the road of life...well bumps is putting it mildly...at the time they felt like major POTHOLES...ya know...the kind that flatten a tire immediately! And...this wasn't that long ago...okay I'm talkin like in the last couple of weeks! My tire went flat and no matter what, I could not get it to air up again. I was sad. Tears came to my eyes often. I didn't miss church. I read my Bible.
I just went through a very difficult time. I just want to encourage you if you're going through a rough spot...hold on to God...He will pull you through!
God sends angels (sometimes disguised as friends or family or even a bumper sticker or billboard or a blog : )) along the way to remind you He is still with you. There is still a plan and that plan has not changed. We are daughters of the King.
Stress is another word for fear. Fear is not of God. Get your Bible, meditate on God's Word...lean on His Word to give you strength until you can find His peace. Do not fear. Trust Him. I was reminded by someone dear to me....that He doesn't really need my help. LOL Thank you Mark for reminding us that we need to take a picture or do anything we need to do to remind us of the personal times we have with God. They will carry us through those hard times that we ALL have. Love you bunches and see you again soon for Chapter 4! : )
