Just a Dreamin'...

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you've imagined."

Henry David Thoreau

5 years ago, a friend and I were challenging one another to dream big.  We listened to an inspiring speaker who insisted we write down 3 of our most amazing dreams that we would love to see take place in the next 5 years.
We laughed and started to write a couple of things we knew were not too far out of reach.  WAIT!  We had just been encouraged to dream BIG! And so we did.
Here was my list:
1.  A Trip to Paris, France.
2.  I wanted a piano. I studied piano for 8 years and love to play.
3.  Swimming pool for the family.

Well, would you like to know how that worked out?
Eiffel Tower Vintage Sepia Paris Print PictureWithin 3 years, I was on a plane to Paris.  My amazing husband had planned a surprise trip...touring Europe for 12 days.  "Phantom of the Opera" at its premier theater in London, England...amazing.  We brought in the New Year on the Spanish Steps in Rome, Italy...too incredible.  A dinner cruise beside the Eiffel Tower...all too surreal!
That is just #1 on my list!  Why am I telling you this?  BECAUSE I have experienced the beauty of dreaming BIG!  At the time I made my list, I was embarrassed to write down my dream for fear that it wouldn't come to pass and I would be disappointed.  But I didn't stop.  I picked up my pen.  I made my list.
Tumbled Tile Coasters FleurdeLisI want to encourage YOU...stop a minute and make your list of dreams.  A list of 3 things that you would like to see in the next 5 years.  Live your life as if one day those things WILL happen!
If you dream of being thin and enjoying life more...do something TODAY that will make that dream a reality...eat healthier and read books on ENJOYING LIFE!  In less than 5 years you can look in the mirror with a big smile and say "I DID IT!"

By the way, earlier this year, my parents called and asked if I would like to have the piano that I learned to play on at the age of 8.  I was so excited!  As it was being set up in the living room, tears came to my eyes as I realized this was truly...a dream come true!

And as for #3....well, 2 years ago a dam broke behind our home and our downstairs was filled with 50,000 gallons (6 feet) of water...nearly to the ceiling.  I am all about turning lemons into lemonade so I'm thinking...there was my "indoor" pool!  I will be more specific on my next list! LOL I am kidding but I have decided against the pool idea.  I enjoy going to a local pool without all of the upkeep of owning your own. : )
I have ONE reason for telling you this...ANYTHING is possible!  Dream BIG!!!!
I am still dreaming.  I have a new list that no one knows about but me and God.  Someday I'll be able to write and tell you how it went. : )
Right now I am living with hope and a dream!  You can too!  It's way more fun than whining.
Enjoy today and where you are now (It took a lot to get here!)  but have fun looking forward to tomorrow...it is good.  Jeremiah 29:11 says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future."
I'm excited for you and the amazing future God has in store for you!  Happy Dreaming!

Excellent!! I love the positive thinking mode. It's easy to get into the thoughts of negativity especially when your house is filling with water!
Love Henry David Thoreau as well.

Followed my sister Linda's profile page to your blog. Found my sister in law as one of your favorites (Stoneybrook & Sugar Pie Farmhouse). Funny what a small world blogging is. Welcome to this crazy place. Read your last few posts and really enjoyed them. Tried to Follow you but the button wouldn't show up on your blog. I'll try to find my way back to you again. Until then, come on by for a visit. Holly

Hey Angie! Good to see you on here! Sometimes the whole "positive thinking" thing is TRULY put to the test! I kinda think that's when you find out what ur made of. It's a crazy life...I think part of being okay in spite of junk is knowing how much God loves you and He wants you to win in the end. Just NEVER GIVE UP!
Have an AWESOME weekend! Looking forward to talking again soon! Marla

Kayla!!! So good to see you on here! I miss your sweet smile! Melinda & I were talking about missing the party girls! Have you made a list of dreams? I was just telling someone today that I think God LOVES to bless his little girls! One of my new dreams is to take my boys to Africa with my hubby and see where my husband was born and raised. He was born in Nigeria and raised in Ghana! I'll let you know when the Lord makes it happen! : ) Have a wonderful weekend, I look forward to hearing from you again!

So I totally just realized I hadn't seen your reply--oops!

What an amazing thing to add to your list! A former roommate's Dad grew up in Ghana, also! Small world... What an incredible trip it would be for your boys! Ah! So cool!!

I most definitely SHOULD make a list. Maybe I'll do that and have it as my next post!
