How true that is! Whether you are cooking dinner or straightening your house for the billionth time...I'm reminded to take an extra minute and when you can, do something extra, some little detail.
You will notice a recipe for meatloaf on this week's menu. I suggested that before you serve the meatloaf, take a minute and write on the top of it, with Ketchup, your family's last name or a smiley face. It adds a little fun when you serve it to your family.
The details are usually the little touch that turns an every day situation into a memory.
Ideas for "EXTRAS"!
Last night I baked a store bought cake and started to serve it the boys and their friends. I would usually cut slices & serve, but I decided to do something a little "extra". I put the cake on a pedestal cake plate and a ribbon around the knob on the glass cover. The boys were so excited when they saw the cake. One of Stephen's friends said, "I can't play right now, I'm eating the best cake in the whole world!"LOL In fact, you may notice in the picture...the boys had already eaten half the cake when I thought to take this picture. : ) Boys...ya gotta love 'em!
Today is Saturday, I want to take take time to enjoy the boys before they head back to school on Monday. I captured a picture of "family time with Dad". Take notice of who is holding the vdieo game controller! LOL The boys are playing while I tidy up a few things and think about a way to bless them when I serve dinner or some yummy snack. That's when I get to be creative. What are some ways you show your family you love them? What are some of the "extras"? I would love to hear your thoughts I love to get new ideas from friends.
Finding Favor:
"She seeks wool and flax and works with willing hands." Proverbs 31:13
I must say that I haven't sought alot of wool or flax lately but I think the modern day version might read like this: "She keeps her home stocked with necessities to operate smoothly and does her work with willing hands." The term "willing" is a term describing her heart. Keep a joyful heart when working for your family. The true message is not in the actual work...it's when your family knows you're doing it because you love them.

Hey Marla - after our conversation today I put the Italian chicken on to cook. I wanted to serve it for dinner & it was already 2:30 in the afternoon. I turned the crockpot up to high & by 6:30 it was ready to eat. Both Jim & Matt enjoyed it. It's a recipe for me to keep handy.
Thanks, Dixie
PS - I took your advise and put the chicken on a serving platter & the potatoes in a serving bowl. Around our house it's normal to serve yourself out of the pots & pans. I'm not sure they noticed but they enjoyed the meal & that's what counts.
Awesome Dixie! I'm with you...sometimes I'm not sure the boys recognize everything...but I really think it blesses God. He sees the heart behind our actions..I think it makes Him smile : )
Thank you so much for your encouragement & sweet comments! You rock you FAVORED FRIEND you!
Lots of love,
Marla
Hi Marla! I took the "kraft" cheese and crackers out of the box before I served them to our Evidence students on Sunday. They thought it was great! Mostly because they LOVE cheese. It was a special request from Brooke so she was excited that I remembered what her favorite snack is. Sometimes, blessing loved ones is as simple as remembering what they love. :)
oh wow! Good Word Ms Linda! How TRUE that is! Remembering something that's important to someone else...speaks VOLUMES. Thank you soooooo much for sharing that!
But for the record... you can make me cake on a pedistal ANY TIME and I will feel VERY loved!!!!
Great blog by the way!
