It is a chilly day in the Ozarks! I'm looking out across our beautiful, snow blanketed yard. It looks like we may have gotten 2 inches last night. Two squirrels are playing tag in one of our cedar trees...looks like they are loving the snow, as well!
The boys had 3 friends spend the night so it was a late one! I laughed when I looked around the TV room at the MESS! Soooo, today I have to tidy it back up and then we're ready to move to the KITCHEN!
By the way, did you notice I posted a menu for Mon - Fri at the bottom of this page? I hope that all of us can make our grocery lists from there and it will ease our lives just a tad. : )
I hope you noticed, also, that February 1 we are starting our online Book Club! I am excited about our next read...we can read at our leisure and post our comments on this blog. I will be announcing our 1st book title in just a few days!
HOME CHALLENGE: THE KITCHEN & ONE LOAD OF LAUNDRY
1. Remember the rule - Never go to bed with dirty dishes in the sink : )
2. Wash down every appliance - Stovetop, Oven, Microwave, Dishwasher, Refrigerator
3. Bleach out the fridge
4. Organize the pantry.
5. Mop the floor
P.S. We have GOT to remove clutter from the kitchen...you will be inspired & more creative when you have a clean and orderly space to work in. LET'S DO IT!
Oh and one more thing, don't forget to light a candle when you finish cleaning a room! They smell sooooo yummy and its a way of saying....ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I DID IT!
SPIRITUAL CHALLENGE: II Kings 14-16 "and he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord".
Did you notice that after each of the Kings are introduced to us in the Book of II Kings...you will find a sentence that reads: "and he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord" OR "and he did what was evil in the sight of the Lord"?
WOW...so much for discussing any GRAY areas! There are NONE. There is not even a discussion of "well, he went through so much, and this or that was not fair....and his family did this or that...blah blah blah...." No, he either did what was right in the EYES OF THE LORD or he didn't. Maybe that's how we should make EVERY decision. We must pray, ask for wisdom, and hear from God, this is how we will KNOW...we did what was right in the eyes of the Lord.
If I were being introduced in the Bible...which sentence would follow my name?

Okay, I know you said you figured about an hour a day for chores. But honestly - it would take an hour just to clean out the pantry. Maybe I need to get my house cleaned 1st then I maybe spend an hour a day to keep it that way. But there is no way I could do your schedule for an hour an accomplished everything on your list. I'm way past my "super-mom" stage - now entering the "slow as gramdma" stage. :) Love the menu idea -the recipes look yummy. Will have to try them. What type of book will the reading be?
Ok...I'm lovin this! Why don't we set a timer...LITERALLY for one hour and see what we can get done? I'm not kidding...I'm going to try this..because I KNOW YOU ARE RIGHT! My goal is to see... if we spend one hour on each room...as the weeks go by that room will be conquered!
When I was working full-time, I wanted perfect meals & a perfect house for my family. That CAN be done but it takes planning. I NEVER had the time to plan. So now, I'm taking the time. I always wished someone would hand me a list, I'd get it done & there would be order. Now my goal is to create that list for myself and hopefully be each working mom's personal home assistant.
We have 5 chores in each room. That means 12 minutes per chore. As for the pantry...you can only spend 12 minutes. Even if you dent one corner that only leaves 3 for next week.
I think that I don't get everything done because I don't know where to start! I'm hoping that with a plan...every day will have specific chores that I CAN accomplish. There is no way we will have perfection the 1st week but over time...we will have ORDER : ).
FYI - Monday was Master Bed
Tuesday - TV Room
Wednesday - Kitchen
Thursday - Other Bedrooms
Friday - Bathrooms
I'm seriously thinking of our 1st book being..."Captivating" by Stacy Eldridge. Have you read that? It has been around for a couple of years but people keep talking about how great it is.
